Are you currently employed as a pharmacy technician or are you awaiting registration after completing the course? We are seeking candidates to fill the vacant position of band 4 technician. Particularly encouraged to apply are current students (PTPT) who intend to finish the course in the immediate future. Those who are successful and awaiting registration will be designated to a band 3 position initially, with a band 4 position becoming available upon registration with the GPhC as a pharmacy technician.

As with other positions within a small department, this position is dynamic and continuously changing to accommodate the service’s demands. In conjunction with your clinical duties on the wards, you will provide assistance to the dispensary and other pharmacy services.

The principal obligations of the postholder include

  • Assemble final accuracy checks of pharmacist-clinically screened prescriptions as part of dispensing duties (ACT once qualified).
  • Offer ward-based services for the optimization of medications.
  • Supervise personnel who have been designated.
  • Provide support for the upkeep of the trust’s formulary and recharges for high-cost medications.
  • Serve as an educational or practice supervisor for designated pharmacy personnel (as needed).
  • Assist in the procurement of medications.
  • Provide support to pharmacy establishments and distribution networks.
  • At this time, there are no weekend responsibilities; however, providing bank holiday coverage may be required. In the future, you might also be required to work certain weekends or late hours.
