Responsibilities of Ophthalmic Assistant Jobs

  • Perform a variety of fundamental screening assessments, including but not limited to blood pressure, pulse, temperature, blood glucose monitoring, and urine analysis, while ensuring that the results are documented accurately in the patient’s medical records.
  • Deliver samples of anomalous urine to a registered nurse.
  • Notify the charge nurse of any changes to a patient’s condition and attend to clinical emergencies.
  • When required, perform manual handling of patients to ensure that they are properly positioned for examinations.
  • Observe the requirements of patients and notify the nurse in charge if those needs pertain to clinical matters.
  • Observe and communicate baseline observations to a certified nurse or physician.
  • Ensure that the results of the investigation are disclosed to the appropriate clinical director.
