We are currently seeking a new mortuary manager to provide support for the mortuary and bereavement services at BCUHB as a result of retirement. We have mortuary and bereavement facilities at our three primary acute hospitals at BCUHB, which will be overseen by the Mortuary Manager. The Regional Mortuary Service will be led by the postholder, who will work independently and collaborate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as external agencies such as the police, H.M. Coroner and their officers, the Medical Examiners Service, medical staff, and other health care professionals.

Duties of Mortuary Manager Jobs in UK
In this intriguing and diverse position, you will be accountable for the line management and supervision of the site-based Mortuary and Bereavement Service. This includes the provision of strong leadership to all staff as well as the management of budget and financial resources within the designated budget allocation.
You will serve as a professional role model by promoting the Health Board’s values, ensuring the privacy, dignity, and respect of patients and relatives, and ensuring a positive experience for relatives in all aspects of post-mortem care. You will also share best practices within the Mortuary and Bereavement service and ensure the safety of staff, deceased, and bereaved relatives.
You will be responsible for the designation and storage of the deceased, as well as the ordering and purchasing of equipment, the recording and oversight of the lawful disposal of human tissue, products of conception, and police forensic exhibits and logging. Additionally, you will be responsible for upholding the Human Tissue Authority license and the safe storage and return of deceased patients’ property.

- A Master’s Degree in a recognized specialty or the capacity to demonstrate equivalent pertinent experience and be studying for a Masters or Level 7 course within a predetermined timeframe at the time of the appointment.
- SPH Diploma/Level 4 in Anatomical Pathology Technology (minimum of five years of post-qualification experience)
- Qualifications in supervision or management
- An understanding of the development of pathways within the mortuary
- Proficient in the management of the deceased from a variety of religious traditions
- Possesses extensive, highly specialized knowledge regarding mortuaries, fatalities, and the bereavement process.
