The Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship 2025, hosted by the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, is now accepting applications until 7 October 2025, 12:00 UTC.. Designed exclusively for senior Chinese energy sector professionals, this fully funded three-month fellowship provides a unique platform to conduct independent, policy-relevant research that contributes to the UK–China Energy Dialogue.

What is the Fellowship About?

This Chevening Fellowship is not merely an academic opportunity; it is a strategic platform that enables individuals to engage in impactful research, contribute to the UK-China Energy Dialogue, and collaborate with one of the world’s foremost institutions in energy law and policy.

Fellows will be granted unrestricted access to all classes, seminars, and lectures at CEPMLP in order to conduct a dedicated research project. In addition, you will be provided with academic supervision on an individual basis, guidance regarding your research objectives, and a curated cultural experience through events organized by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and the Chevening Secretariat.

What Does the Fellowship Cover?

  1. The University of Dundee charge full program fees.
  2. Living expenses for the entire three-month period
  3. Economy return airfare from China to the United Kingdom
  4. A CEPMLP academic supervisor provides dedicated research support.
  5. Unrestricted access to all academic offerings of CEPMLP
  6. Engagement in professional activities and cultural events in the United Kingdom

Who Can Apply?

This exclusive fellowship is only open to applicants from China, and to be eligible, you must:

  1. Currently reside in China and be a citizen of the country.
  2. I plan to return to China following the fellowship.
  3. Possess a postgraduate degree (or equivalent professional experience)
  4. Possess a minimum of five years of pertinent experience in the energy sector
  5. Currently employed or matriculated as a PhD candidate (non-UK/EU/US institutions only)
  6. Not possessing dual British nationality
  7. Applicants must not be currently employed by, or closely related to someone employed by, His Majesty’s Government, a sponsoring UK university, or the British Council.

  1. What is the fellowship?

    A fully funded, three-month research fellowship at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. It’s designed for senior professionals in China’s energy sector, offering access to lectures, seminars, one-on-one academic support, and involvement in the UK–China Energy Dialogue.

  2. Who is eligible?

    To qualify, you must:
    Be a citizen of China currently residing there.
    Hold a postgraduate-level qualification or equivalent experience.
    Have at least five years of relevant professional experience.
    Be currently employed or enrolled as a PhD candidate (outside UK/EU/US).
    Intend to return to China after completion.
    Not hold British or dual nationality.
    Not be connected to British government bodies, British Council, or sponsoring UK institutions, nor have received an HMG-funded award in the last two years or five years depending on context.

  3. What does the fellowship cover?

    The fellowship fully funds:
    Program fees at the University of Dundee.
    Living expenses for the full three-month duration.
    Return economy airfare from China to the UK.
    Academic supervision at CEPMLP.
    Full access to academic offerings and cultural events.
